Hilltop Curling Club sponsored a Strong Man Competition March 3 There were 16 teams of 2 persons each with several attending from Dubuc to join in the fun. Each team played at least 2 games and up to 4 games apiece. The "Strong Man" title comes from the fact that there is no skipping or sweeping but all other regular curling rules apply, including the three rock free guard zone rule. All 16 Rocks are alternately delivered by players #1 on each opposing team. The curlers at the other end of the ice surface, players # 2, keep the rocks in order and can also verbally give their partners the location of the rocks and who is counting. The team with their rocks closest to the button count points as in a regular curling game. Following the completion of the first end, curler #2 for each team will alternately deliver 8 rocks each, with the same rules applying. There was an A and B side and winners were Derry Michael and Lane Chesney for the A side; Randy and Jillian Kormos won the B event. $500 for prizes - 4 in A and 2 in B - were donated by generous sponsors . After curling for 50 years, it was the first time some of the competitors had ever taken part in a similar contest
