SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Police Service says that with the assistance of the RCMP, Canada Border Services Agency and U.S. Homeland Security, Dawn Marie Walker has been returned to Saskatoon.
SPS says Walker was transferred into their custody at approximately 4 p.m. Friday.
At this time, says SPS, Walker is facing the following Canadian offences;
- abduction in contravention of a custody order; and
- public mischief.
Additional charges are being considered as the criminal investigation progresses.
Dawn Walker is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Monday, Aug. 29, at 9 a.m. She will be held in police custody until that time.
Walker, who was reported missing July 24, was charged after a missing persons investigation that involved authorities in both Canada and the United States.
The United States Department of Homeland Security has charged her with the following United States offences:
Title 18 U.S. Code - 1028A (a) (1) provides that it is a felony offense for a person, during and in relation to any felony violation enumerated in subsection c, to-wit: false statements in the use of a passport, to knowingly possess or use, without lawful authority, a means of identification of another person.
Title 18 U.S. Code – 1028 (a) (6) provides that it is a misdemeanor offence for a person to possess an identification document which is stolen or produced without lawful authority knowing that such document was stolen or produced without such authority.
Her son was reunited with a legal guardian on Aug. 5 and returned to Canada on Aug. 7.
