SASKATOON — The City of Saskatoon is set to join the Saskatoon Indian & Metis Friendship Centre Community Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration on June 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Victoria Park. This family-friendly event welcomes attendees of all backgrounds.
One of the celebration's highlights will be the unveiling of the city's new , an of unity and shared heritage. The festivities start at 10:30 a.m. with the Grand Entry, followed by welcoming remarks from Mayor Charlie Clark and esteemed guests.
Visitors can partake in various activities and educational sessions throughout the day, including tipi raising, Elder teachings, and insightful discussions about creating our new Reconciliation Visual Identity. Adjacent to the tipi, the city will also host an Indigenous recruitment kiosk, providing information on employment opportunities.
From noon until 2 p.m., attendees can indulge in a delicious lunch and enjoy captivating entertainment. Cultural performances will commence, accompanied by engaging children's activities. Individuals can explore the Elders’ tent and the city's community tipi to delve deeper into Indigenous cultures and traditions.

Just so you know, the Rock Your Roots Walk for Reconciliation, traditionally held on June 21, has been rescheduled to Sept. 30 during the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation.
