CALDER - Christmas potluck again a success

The Calder Annual Community Christmas Potluck Supper was a wonderful turn out. Thanks to everyone who attended this event. Thanks to the Calder Yalenka Dancers for a great program. The beginner group was amazing, a little stage fright, but they got the job done. And we can't forget the Calder Yalenka Dance Clubs instructors, Kallie Haas, Katie Haas and Jason Slivia for doing a wonderful job with the club. A big thank you to the ladies and gentlemen for starting the Christmas carolling, you all did a great job. And finally a big big Thank you to the Jolly Old Man from the North Pole, who came out to see the young children at the Calder Community Hall.

The Calder School Christmas Concert was a great turn out again. Thanks to all the people who bought raffle tickets. Thanks to the parents for the dainties that were served at the concerts.

Thank you to my aunties and uncles for going to visit my mother, Martha Harper, while she was a patient at the Yorkton Hospital.

The Calder Seniors held their Whist Drive on Dec. 15, 2012. Here are the winners of the whist drive: 1st - Donna Fustey, 2nd - Mildred Danylko, 3rd - Jim Fustey, and low Arnold Balabuck. The Pot of Gold winners were Arthur Martenuk and Margie Mankish.

Doug Mckenzie is back after spending a week out in Kingston, ON, where he visited with his daughter, his son-in-law and his beautiful grandchildren, his son and many of his friends.

The Calder Skating Ice is ready to go, skating is on Friday night, and Sunday afternoons.

The MacNutt 4H held their family day pizza party at the Calder Good Neighbour Centre on Sun., Dec. 16, 2012. After their pizza party the MacNutt 4H club went out and delivered Christmas cookies and carolling to the seniors that live in Calder.

The Calder Seniors would like to thank the MacNutt 4H for the wonderful plate of cookies and the beautiful Christmas carols that were sung to them.

The MacNutt 4H Club hold their meetings at the Calder Good Neighbour Centre every second Wednesday starting at 7 p.m.

Melissa Goods of Vermilion, AB, is home visiting with her parents David and Iris Goods and her brother Curtis and the rest of her family and friends.

Amanda Antony of Vermilion, AB, is home visiting with her parents Edwin, Karen, Kathleen and Dave for Christmas holidays and the rest of her family and friends.

Amanda Antony motored to Kamsack to visit her grandma, Martha Harper, who was a patient at the Kamsack Hospital. A huge Thank You to her aunties and uncles, who went and visited Martha while she was a patient at the Yorkton Hospital.

The Calder Playschool students held their last class for this year on Dec. 19, 2012. This was their Christmas party day too. The students enjoyed the afternoon outside for awhile then we headed inside to have a snack and hot chocolate. The students exchanged Christmas gifts with each other. To the Calder Playschool Students and their parents have a very Merry Christmas from the Calder Library Board.
