聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Barveenok Ukrainian Dance Club presented the annual spring concert at the Sturgis Composite High School on May 1. Mikaela Musey was the dance instructor.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Lisa Serdachny was the mistress of ceremonies for the afternoon. Lillian Steranko, the founder of the club, sang O Canada in Ukrainian.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The program kicked off with a 鈥渨elcome dance,鈥� followed by the presentation of the wheat, bread and salt that symbolized wishes for a good crop, good health, and prosperity for the following year.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "We wish all farmers warm weather, plenty of moisture and an abundance of sunshine this coming growing season," said Serdachny.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The intermediate dancers performed a Bukovyna dance. Dancers included: Brynn Babiuk, Kylie Babiuk, Kaiden Masley, Layne Englot and Shae Peterson.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The second intermediate group performed a Hutsul dance. Performers were: Allyssa Mirva, Siera Karcha, Alecia Shuba, Cassidy Paterson, Daniell Mirva, Hunter Mirva, Wyatt Fedorchuk and Lyndon Gawrelitza.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The junior dance number was next with a Poltava dance. Performers were: Bracyn Konkel, Brianne Paterson, Darian Serdachny, Connor Burym, Trae Peterson, Shaylyn Karcha, Mason Babiuk, Cole Masley and Cole Secundiak.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Kylie Babiuk performed a solo Transcarpathian dance.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The beginner dancers were: Avery Masley, Allie Babiuk, Eva Romanchuk, Sydney Koloski, Shaye Burym, Rylee Coleman, Dillian Serdachny and Keltyn Konkel. This group performed a Poltava dance.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Five-year plaques were presented to: Brianne Paterson, Shaylyn Karcha, Sierra Karcha and Bracyn Konkel.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 As guest dancers, the Norquay Rosa Ukrainian Dance Club group performed a Poltava dance. Dancers were: Mikaela Musey, Jordan Musey, Amanda Hollinaty, Kim Gulka and Allyson Grywacheski.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The last dance featured the intermediate group which performed a Poltava. Dancers were: Brynn Babiuk, Kylie Babiuk, Kaiden Masley, Layne Englot, Shae Peterson, Allyssa Mirva, Siera Karcha, Alecia Shuba, Cassidy Paterson, Daniell Mirva, Hunter Mirva, Wyatt Fedorchuk and Lyndon Gawrelitza.
