Awards night recognizes 4-H club achievements

The small Kelvington 4-H Beef Club recognized the accomplishments of its members and the support received from sponsors and buyers alike during the annual awards night held on June 28, said Brent Elmy, leader.

            The small Kelvington 4-H Beef Club recognized the accomplishments of its members and the support received from sponsors and buyers alike during the annual awards night held on June 28, said Brent Elmy, leader.

            Bradley Elmy accepted an award for intermediate grooming, showmanship, fed calf, judging book and test.  Elmy also received awards for overall showmanship grand aggregate (tied with Shen Perron) and for reserve grooming.

            Kendra Ewen, Amber Spray and Hannah Perron were presented prizes from leaders Mindy Niezgoda and Brent Elmy for Cloverbud grooming, showmanship, test, book and confirmation.

            Shen Perron was presented awards for best Charolais and for reserve showmanship. Perron also received awards for grand aggregate (tied with Bradley Elmy), junior grooming, showmanship, fed calf, judging, test and book.

             Shen Perron and Bradley Elmy tied for first place for the grand aggregate award. Mindy Neizgoda and Brent Elmy made the presentation.

            Nathan Niezgoda presented the Norman Geck Memorial plaque for supreme female. Norman Geck made the presentation. Niezgoda also received awards for grand champion heifer, senior showmanship and senior heifer.

            Dana Balaski received the reserve aggregate award from Bart Hartl. Balaski also took home awards for reserve champion heifer, best Angus and senior judging.

            John Ake received the grand champion fed calf award from Mike Babecy and Muriel Geck. Ake also received prizes and awards for home grown fed calf, best Simmental, senior grooming, senior fed calf  and overall grooming award.

            Kelsey Elmy won the Ken Elmy Memorial Award for most combined marks for test, book and judging. Irene Elmy made the presentation. She also took home awards for reserve female, reserve aggregate (tied with Dana Balaski), senior test, senior book and senior cow/calf.

            Dustin Spray received an award for reserve fed calf, which was presented by Brett Spray.
