A Christmas Carol to be read by Preeceville residents dressed in period costumes

Since 1990, people across Canada have been crowding into churches and theatres to hear Charles Dickens’ timeless story read aloud over the holiday season. Produced in over 100 communities across Canada, A Christmas Carol raises money for local charities such as food banks, shelters, libraries and hospices.

"This year you are invited to kick off the festive season with a Dickens’ night," said Sheila Ivanochko, organizer.

A dramatic reading of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol will be presented at Trinity United Church in Preeceville on November 29.

In true Dickens’ fashion, all proceeds from a free will offering will benefit Filling the Gap Christmas hamper program and the Family Resource Centre.

“We first presented the CBC dramatic reading in our community in 2015,” said Ivanochko. “It was such a success that Trinity United Church board felt it was worth producing again.

“The classic Dickens’ Christmas tale really endorses the Christmas spirit and makes a significant difference for a local charity during this special time of the year," she said.

The third annual production of A Christmas Carol features local readers (in period costume) and musical interludes. The evening will conclude with socializing and themed finger-food.

"Mark the evening of November 29, and prepare to be filled with the spirit of Christmas," Ivanochko said.
