The Yellowhead Flyway Birding Trail Association (YFBTA), a non-profit organization that works to promote conservation, preservation, awareness and tourism, is sponsoring a free summer camp program throughout July and August in the communities of Saltcoats, Churchbridge and Esterhazy. The day camp will provide children with the opportunity to learn about local wildlife and explore nature through crafts, games and outdoor activities.

YFBTA members are excited about this pilot project. Nature Sask has commended this local group for its initiative in hosting an annual symposium and several birding, plant exploration, and other events during each year.

The summer camp is being organized by Nancy Kennedy, the YFBTA facilitator who has been providing educational programs to schools including Saltcoats, Churchbridge, P.J. Gillen and Yorkdale Central throughout May and June.

The Schedule for the YFBTA Camp is as follows:Saltcoats July 27-30; Churchbridge July 13-16 and August 10-13; Esterhazy July 20-23 and August 17-20.

9:00-1:00 Grade three and older; 2:00-5:00 Kindergarten, grades 1 and 2

The camp will only be able to accommodate a limited number of children per day so early registration is important. Please note that registration is not restricted to children from the host communities.

If you are interested in registering, have any questions, or if you are a parent, adult, or youth age 14 and older that would be willing to help contact Nancy Kennedy at (306) 940-8227 or [email protected]. Donations and craft supplies would also be appreciated.
