The revolving jail door saga of a 33-year-old Yorkton woman came to an end last week with guilty pleas and a 30-month penitentiary sentence.
Crystal Ford pleaded guilty November 25 to one count each of possession of cocaine and possession of methamphetamine for the purposes of trafficking, one count of possession of the proceeds of crime, one count of uttering threats, one count of uttering a forged document, one count of simple possession of cocaine and a couple of sundry administration of justice charges.
Following the guilty pleas, the Crown dropped a number of other charges including trafficking, assault with a weapon, assault and a couple of other administration of justice charges.
Ford was busted November 4 along with three others, two from Yorkton, in a multiple agency sting dubbed F-Jackpot. Co-accused of trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine were Kevin Thurston and Derek MacDonald of Yorkton and James Lloyd of Regina.
At the time of her arrest, Ford was subject to a warrant for failing to appear in court on the uttering a forged document and breach charges.
Nevertheless, she was released on $1,000 bail November 10 only to be back in custody November 16 on the assault charges. The November 25 appearance was scheduled to be another bail hearing, but became a sentencing hearing with a joint submission from the Crown and defence for the 30-month prison term.
MacDonald appeared in court December 1 and was released by consent of the Crown on numerous conditions including a 24-hour curfew and electronic monitoring.
