NORQUAY — The Norquay Recreation Board reviewed recreation in the community during its regular meeting on Nov. 14.
In the financial report, it was said that the balance was $11,282.
Regarding minor hockey, it was said that a minor hockey day was being planned as was a pancake breakfast in conjunction with the firemen’s bonspiel. Teams were continuing to practice in Preeceville until the Norquay ice was ready.
The Norquay U9 team was awaiting the arrival of their jerseys which are being sponsored by ATP.
A representative of the Tail Twisters 4-H Club said that the group was planning a horse feed raffle during the winter and that to date the group had 25 members.
November was poetry month, said Karen Crawford on behalf of the Parkland Regional Library. She said the library would be closed from Dec. 23 to Jan. 3.
Malanka will be celebrated on Jan. 14, said a representative of the Ukrainian Dance group.
A total of 23 skaters were registered to train with the figure skating club, it was said. “We are awaiting ice… so we can get started.”
Regarding the Timberline Band Association, Nicole Olson said that it would include eight beginners, eight intermediates and two senior band members from Norquay. The band had 136 students from Norquay, Sturgis, Preeceville, Canora and Invermay.
The next meeting was scheduled for Jan. 9.
