KAMSACK — An engaging water polo clinic took place at the Kamsack swimming pool, attracting a group of enthusiastic young people eager to enhance their skills and learn more about the sport.
The clinic, organized by the Town of Kamsack in partnership with Water Polo Sask, a group primarily based in Regina but working in areas across Saskatchewan, aimed to provide attendees with a valuable training session and promote community engagement.
The clinic commenced at Kamsack on Aug. 16, as youths gathered around to receive instructions from Jake Morris, a Water Polo Sask Coach from Regina who’s been involved in Water Polo Coaching for approximately 11 years.
“I love these clinics," Coach Morris said. "It's nice to go around to smaller towns and just have fun and teach the sport I enjoy for an hour. It's a blast.”
The kids were divided into teams, and safety measures were addressed before the activities began. Coach Morris emphasized the importance of teamwork, passing the ball across the half-court line, and avoiding physical contact during the games. The water polo clinic offered a unique blend of athleticism and strategy, similar to half-court basketball.
As the training session progressed, participants had the chance to demonstrate their newly-acquired skills in friendly matches.
