KAMSACK — Levi Erhardt, a senior student at Kamsack Comprehensive Institute hailing from Togo, has recently made some notable achievements in both basketball and hockey. Erhardt, a Grade 12 student, was among the select few chosen from 300 students province-wide to participate in the Senior All Star Classic Basketball event in Saskatoon.

Reflecting on his selection, Erhardt shared, "It was cool because for being a smaller school and then also being from a small town, it's kind of cool to showcase talent from our area."

The event, which took place on April 6 and April 7, offered Erhardt a unique opportunity to showcase his skills alongside other top athletes. "At the start, it was kind of like everyone was going pretty hard. And it was cool. But then the one team started to pull away and we just had fun with it," Erhardt recounted.

Erhardt's prowess extends beyond the basketball court. He is also a standout player in hockey, earning recognition for his leadership and spirit on the ice. He was honored with the Keith Kruger Memorial Leadership and Spirit Awards from his U18AA hockey team, the Sask East Oilers.

Expressing his gratitude for the award, Erhardt said, "Leadership is something I take pride in. So just being able to be recognized for that and for what I do for my teammates, rather than myself, was pretty cool."

Erhardt's natural inclination towards leadership is evident both on and off the sports field. "It's not something that I think about like I have to do, it just kind of comes naturally," he explained. "And I've always been able to just take charge if nobody else will."

Aside from his athletic achievements, Erhardt also serves as the president of the Student Leadership Council (SLC) at Kamsack Comprehensive Institute.

Looking ahead, Erhardt remains open to various opportunities in sports. "I also play hockey and football so it's kind of hard to choose which sport I like to play but basketball would definitely be an option for me past highschool," he said.

As Erhardt continues to excel in both academics and athletics, he serves as an inspiration to his peers, showcasing the dedication, skill, and leadership necessary to succeed both on and off the field.
