KAMSACK — Lapel poppies will begin appearing in businesses across Kamsack starting Friday, Oct. 25, marking the annual start of the Royal Canadian Legion’s Poppy Campaign.
Three World War II veterans’ wives, all residents of Eaglestone Lodge, were the first to receive poppies in Kamsack. Norma Woodward, Mary Welykholowa, and Winnie Koroluk proudly accepted the symbolic red flowers, honouring the memory of their husbands and the many others who served.
Oct. 26, cadets in uniform from the local unit will be going door-to-door distributing poppies.
Local Legion members encourage residents to wear a poppy to show their support and remembrance for those who served and sacrificed for their country.
