KAMSACK — The Town of Kamsack will be adopting an app to let residents know about emergencies.
After town council was told in June that the lighted sign on the front lawn of the Town Office is no longer operable and replacement costs were estimated at $20,000, council agreed to sign a contract with the Voyent Alert System, which is to target all the community by multi-channel delivery.
The difficulty is with the antiquated software that the sign used, Mayor Nancy Brunt explained last week. The sign will be removed and the community will be served by the Voyent Alert System, which will cost about $2,000 a year.
With the system, notifications will be made via Internet, cell phone and land line phones, Brunt said. If the Town wishes to announce a boil water advisory, a tornado warning, or merely coming events in the community, that information will be automatically sent to residents’ computers, cell phones or land lines.
