Check out what's new at your local library during Saskatchewan's annual Library Week, October 17 to 23.

KAMSACK - Saskatchewan Library Week (SLW) is a province-wide, annual event, which promotes the wonderful resources and services that libraries have to offer. Saskatchewan Library Week is celebrated throughout Saskatchewan in all types of libraries, in both urban and rural communities and by all age groups.

In Kamsack, residents are invited to come out to the library to receive a free library card and enjoy free computer use. For a nominal fee, visitors to the library can also access services like photocopying and faxing.

On Sunday, October 17, the Kamsack Library will be hosting a Tupperware demo from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All current provincial pandemic regulations will be in place.

“Residents should be aware that the library does not receive funding from any national or provincial sources,” said Kamsack Library board member and former Kamsack Mayor, Betty Dix. “Financially, we are in survival mode. We have to apply for grants and do all of our own fundraising in order to run programs. We are keeping our heads above water – but barely.”

Library Week represents the perfect time to get back into the habit of reading. With addiction to phone screens, streaming services, and video games on the rise, locals are encouraged to stop by the library and pick up a good book that could feed both the mind and the spirit.
