KAMSACK — The pancakes-and-sausages breakfast that was served free of charge by members of the Kamsack Volunteer Fire Department on Oct. 15 went over well, according to Ken Thompson, fire chief.
The event, which was the first since 2019 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, was held on the last day of Fire Prevention Week and served as a thank-you to the community while focusing on the need for residents to be aware of fire prevention.
Held at the Kamsack Fire Hall, the breakfast, served free of charge by members of the fire brigade, included hot pancakes cooked on an outdoor barbecue unit donated by Royal Ford in Yorkton, sausages, syrup and beverages.
Kamsack volunteers associated with the district Paws and Claws animal rescue organization displayed a very friendly mother dog and her two eager pups that were ready for adoption, and the firefighters organized a display of fire safety and fire awareness items of particular interest to youngsters.
About 50 people came for breakfast, Thompson said, adding that many people attending had dropped off cash donations for Paws and Claws, including the firefighters who added $100 to the kitty.
“We want to thank everyone for supporting us and Paws and Claws,” he said. “We’ll see everyone again next year.”
