YORKTON - The Salvation Army in Yorkton has a new home.

Wednesday the organization took possession of the building at 78 Â鶹´«Ã½AV Front Street – previously home to Parkland Community Church which has closed its doors and now sold the building.

The building has also housed the Salvation Army Food Bank – as they had been leasing the space since 2020.

Major Donald Bladen area commander for the Salvation Army said they had been looking for a new space in the city for some time, investigating a few other properties before the one of Â鶹´«Ã½AV Front Street became available.

In the short-term Bladen said the Salvation Army will continue in current locations in the city, as they finalize plans for the new space and then go through the renovation process.

The initial concept for the new space is that it will continue to house the food bank, and after renovations have a worship space, and allow for the organization to again operate a thrift store, which it did in the city up until 2018.

While no timelines have been established for the transition, work to finalize the plan would begin almost immediately, said Bladen.
