Gymkhana allows riders to display their horsemanship skills

The Etomaimie Valley Rider Club allowed avid horse riders to showcase their skills at various events during the gymkhana, which was part of the Preeceville Western Weekend July 11-12. Jen Hue was the announcer for the two-day event.

The Etomaimie Valley Rider Club allowed avid horse riders to showcase their skills at various events during the gymkhana, which was part of the Preeceville Western Weekend July 11-12.

Jen Hue was the announcer for the two-day event. Darlene Walker, Levi Young and Jacquie Olson helped to record times. Other helpers through the weekend included: Rebel Reynolds, Nolan Walker, Brent Walker, Marlene Palaniuk, Ronda Palaniuk, Cheryl Rosenkerr and Shauna Walters.

In the weepee barrel event on Saturday, Maccoy Galloway of Swan River placed first; Emma Young of Weekes placed second; and Savannah Nordmarken of Kelvington was third. On Sunday, Galloway won ?rst, followed by Nordmarken and Young. Other riders in the weepee events included: Shyann Lindholm of Lintlaw and Keenan Walker of Preeceville. In the weepee poles, Galloway placed first on both days followed by Young and Lindholm. Galloway also placed first on both days in the weepee games in which she was followed by Young and Nordmarken.

In the peewee barrels event, Rashae Hue of Hudson Bay placed first for both days followed by Mariah Blight of Kelliher, second on both days; and Olivia (last name was not recorded) of Saskatoon was in third place on both days. In the pole event, Blight won first for both days; Hue won second on both days and Olivia won third on both days. In the games event, Hue won first on both days, and she was the highpoint winner. Olivia won second place on Saturday, Blight had no time recorded. On Sunday, Blight won second and Olivia won third.

In the junior barrels event on Saturday, Mercedes Blight of Kelliher won first, followed by Jessenta Woloshyn of Kuroki and Mackenzie Hue of Hudson Bay. On Sunday, Reavna Blight of Kelliher won first, Mercedes Blight won second and Woloshyn won third. Other riders were: Brooke Boychuk of Hudson Bay, Mackenzie Hue of Hudson Bay, Chayanne Hue of Hudson Bay, Taylor Gibson of Springside, and Lexie Young of Preeceville. In the poles events, Reavna Blight won first on both days.

Woloshyn won second on Saturday and Gibson won third on Saturday. On Sunday, Mackenzie Hue won second and Blight won third. In the junior games, Jessenta won first on both days. Reavna Blight won second for both days. Mercedes Blight won third on Saturday and Lexi Young won third on Sunday.

In the senior barrels events on Saturday, Blaze Peterson of Hudson Bay was first; Jody Suchoplas of Benito was second and Suchoplas, on a second horse, was third. On Sunday, Heidi Leach of Weekes won first. Tenille Rowllman of Kelvington was second and Jodi Blight, third. In senior poles on Saturday, Suchoplas was first and second (different horses) and Ronnie Prekaski of Lintlaw won third. On Sunday, Suchoplas won first, second and third (on different horses).

In the games category on Saturday, Suchoplas won first, Leach won second and Suchoplas was also third (different horses). On Sunday, Peterson won first, followed by Suchoplas, second and third. Other riders were: Wendy Kopeck of Endeavour, Beth Black of Minitonas, Connie Rioch of Kelvington, Roxanne Hue of Hudson Bay, Brenda Foster of Benito, Raelynn Knutson of Melfort, Theresa Lang of Kelvington, Brittany Prouse of Sheho, Twyla Salmond of Porcupine, Jodi Blight of Kelliher and Yvonne Young of Weekes.
