The next time you visit Outlook High School, there’s a particular bench that you may want to check out that speaks volumes about the impact one student made on teachers, students and friends during his all-too-short lifetime.
Just outside the northeast doors leading to the school’s commercial cooking & cosmetology lab is a memorial bench that pays tribute to the memory of Justin Warwaruk, the 17-year old young man who tragically died in the waters of the Â鶹´«Ã½AV Saskatchewan River this past July.
An online crowdfunding campaign launched after Warwaruk’s passing helped raise money for the construction of the bench, and had raised $845 by the end of the campaign.
The gesture is Justin’s fellow graduates’ way of remembering their fallen peer, student and friend.
Inscribed on the bench, along with two pairs of hockey sticks on each side:
“In Loving Memory of Justin Warwaruk
To Our Anchor
From The Graduating Class of 2017â€
The bench is grabbing eyes due to the fine craftsmanship involved in its creation, but undoubtedly tugging at heartstrings with the emotion behind its existence.
