BUCHANAN - A total of 10 rinks, one more than last year, took part in the Buchanan Open Bonspiel on Feb. 20-24.
When the dust had settled, the Darren Zuravloff foursome from Canora/Buchanan won top spot in the first event. Joining Darren on the team were Brandon, Rob and Dawson Zuravloff.
The Wes Lylyk rink of Arran, Sk./Benito, Man. claimed first place in the second event.
In the third event, the winning foursome was the Eugene Prychak team of Buchanan. Other teams entered in the bonspiel were skipped by: Brenden Halchyshak (Canora), Sheldon Luciw (Preeceville), Bob Kolodziejski (Canora), Lenard Bazarski (Buchanan), John Strykowski (Preeceville), John Teslia (Buchanan) and Derk Vandervoort (Buchanan).
Organizers said the success of the bonspiel was due to the backing of the community, adding, “We appreciate the great support from all the sponsors and their donations.”
