U18 Pats off to second round of Provincial Hockey

Preeceville dropped the first game to Humboldt, but came back strong to win the series and earn a spot in the second round against Foam Lake.

The U18 Preeceville Pats took on Humboldt in the first round of provincial playoffs and moved on to the second round with a comeback win.

PREECEVILLE- The Preeceville Pats U18 hockey team took on Langenburg on Jan. 30 in Langenburg with the game ending in a 4-1 win. Scoring for Preeceville: Bryker Smith (two), Hudsyn Nelson and Briel Beblow of Canora. Assists were by: Mason Babiuk, Briel Beblow and Trae Peterson.

Preeceville kicked off its provincial run by facing off against Humboldt. The first game was held in Preeceville on Jan. 27, ending in a 3-2 loss.

The second game in the series was held in Humboldt on Jan. 31. Preeceville came out ready for the win and would not be denied as they skated to a 6-1 victory. Scoring for Preeceville were: Porter Wolkowski of Canora, Dixon Paul, Bryker Smith, Mason Babiuk, Hudsyn Nelson and Kaiden Masley. Assists were by: Hudsyn Nelson, Jake Soltys, Tomas Hauber of Canora, Jace Vogel and Bryker Smith.

The win meant that the series had to be determined by a 10-minute mini game which Preeceville dominated with a 2-1 victory. Scoring for Preeceville were Bryker Smith and Wyatt Wolkowski of Canora. Assists were contributed by: Hunter Lamb of Canora, Jake Soltys and Kaiden Masley.

Preeceville moved on to the second round of provincial play where they were to take on Foam Lake. The dates and locations for games were not released as of press time.
