June 23, 1956Â July 25, 2015, beloved husband of Colleen Summers of Madge Lake, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully at the Kamsack and District Nursing Home, at the age of 59 years. Bill was born in Saskatoon to Rodney and Isabel Summers. Bill went to high school in Regina where he met his future wife, Colleen Bell. They were married in 1974 after graduating. As teenagers, they enjoyed hitch-hiking to BC to work in the cherry orchards. In
1975 he returned to the University of Regina to pursue a Degree in Education. Shortly after graduating they moved to Birch Hills and he taught at Crystal Springs.
In 1985 the family moved to Kinistino where he taught and became vice-principal. In 1990 the family moved to Canora where he spent 18 years as a teacher and administrator. In 2002 he completed a Masters Degree in Education from San Diego State University. For his last two years before retiring, he taught at Kamsack school while living at Madge Lake.
During his teaching career he coached every sport and made many lasting friendships with his students. Bill was an avid hockey fan and loved coaching. He was active as a scout, coaching minor hockey, Junior B, and Team Sask. He was an instructor for SHA coaching clinics. For a number of years, he was President of the Coaching Association of Saskatchewan. He loved to travel and spent many vacations at Osoyoos, Arizona and Cabo with his wife, family and grandkids. He enjoyed taking his kids to the Olympics in Calgary, Salt Lake and Vancouver. He spent every summer at Madge Lake with the family before moving there in 2008.
He loved sports, reading, music, swimming and spending time with his family. He will be missed every day and forever in our hearts. He leaves behind his loving wife Colleen of 40 years, sons Graeme (Sheena, grandchildren Ryden and Baya), Parker (Shanneen, grandchildren Quin and Willow) and daughter Tasha (Daron). He was predeceased by his parents, Isabel (1990) and Ron Summers (2014).
Funeral Service was held July 29, 2015 from the OCC Hall in Kamsack, with Very Rev. Fr. Joakim Rac officiating.
