The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 32 calls from Oct. 20 to Oct. 27, some of which included: two 911 Act calls, two frauds, 11 traffic offences, four traffic collisions, two mischiefs, one disturbing the peace, one false alarm, one Firearms Act call, one failure to comply with undertaking, one Coroners Act call, one uttering threats, two animal calls, and two other provincial calls.
Unwelcome visitor
On Oct. 21, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of disturbance outside a residence in Sturgis. Police attended the complaint and a male was arrested for uttering threats.
Rollover with injuries
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Oct. 22 to a single vehicle rollover on Canora Beach Road. The driver of the vehicle lost control and rolled into the ditch. A passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.
Icy assist
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were on scene south of Canora on Highway No. 9 to assist motorists stuck in the ditch due to icy road conditions on Oct. 24. An oncoming semi lost control on the icy road, striking an SUV parked along the ditch. The driver of the SUV sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Police stayed on scene with the Canora Fire Department directing traffic until road conditions improved.
Social media mischief
On Oct. 25, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report of a social media account that was cloned and the identity of the complainant was being used to sell adult products. The social media provider later shut down the account.
Rifle found in field
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Oct. 25 to a report that a rifle and backpack were found in a field in the RM of Preeceville. Police were able to identity the owner of the rifle by items located in the backpack.
Hide-and-seek
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint that a male was causing a disturbance inside a residence in Canora on Oct. 25. Police attended and located a male hiding under blankets in a bedroom. The male was arrested for failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking, and for resisting arrest. The male was remanded into custody to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court.
