The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 69 calls from Sept. 15 to 22, some of which included: one false alarm, two 911 Act calls, two assaults, three thefts, one theft of a vehicle, 28 traffic offences, two traffic collisions, two harrassing phone calls, seven other provincial incidents, one Mental Health Act call, seven mischiefts, two Coroners Act calls, one Fire Prevention Act call, three frauds, three disturbing the peace, two break-and-enters, and one Firearms Act call.
Not a taxi
On Sept. 17, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a call from a male who requested a ride from a business in Canora. The male was told the police were not a taxi service and he would have to find his own way home.
Broken windows
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on Sept. 17 that windows were broken on a business located on Norway Road in Canora at 4 a.m. If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Canora RCMP, or you can also report anonymously via Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
Stolen tiller
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report of a stolen Husqvarna DRT900H garden tiller from a yard on Canora Avenue in Canora on Sept. 17. The investigation continues.
Eratic driver
On Sept. 18, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of a white Chevrolet 3500 truck driving erratically on Highway 9 by Sturgis. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
Mysterious fire
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Sept. 18 to a dumpster fire on grid 754 by Buchanan. The cause of the fire is unknown. Police continue to investigate.
Parking lot disturbance
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a disturbance at a parking lot in Canora on Sept. 18. Police attended and arrested a subject for being intoxicated in a public place.
Business break-in
On Sept. 18, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a break-and-enter to a business in Canora. A Toyota Forklift, a Kubata side-by-side and two Milwaukee impact drills were stolen. Truck and trailer theft
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a report on Sept. 18 that a break-and-enter occurred at McTavish Concrete on Railway Avenue in Canora. A 2009 white Ford F-350 and an enclosed trailer were stolen. The trailer was later recovered in Swift Current, however the 2009 Ford F-350 with Saskatchewan Licence plate 012KQB and bearing the McTavish Concrete name on the doors is still missing. Police are requesting assistance from the public.
Property dispute
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a property dispute at a residence in Canora on Sept. 18. Police learned a former renter of the property was not allowed inside the residence by the landlord. As the matter was civil, police were not able to make decisions on the disposition of property inside of the home without a court order.
Doorbell pranks
On Sept. 21, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of kids ringing doorbells and running away on Centre Avenue West in Canora. Police made patrols but were unable to locate the youth.
Shady visitors
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were called to a residence in the RM of Hazel Dell on Sept. 21 for suspicious activity. The complainant reported seeing three or four people outside of his home coming and going throughout the night. Police attended and did not locate any persons or vehicles at the complainant’s residence.
Assault in vehicle
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report of an assault that took place inside a vehicle by Buchanan on Sept. 21. Police continue to investigate.
