CANORA - The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 94 calls from July 14 to July 29, some of which included: three assaults, four 911 Act calls, two false alarms, eight thefts, 25 traffic offenses, two failures to comply with conditions, two frauds, 14 other provincial offences, five impaired operations, four uttering threats, four well-being checks, one Trespass Act call, five Mental Health Act calls, one unauthorized possession of a firearm call, seven mischiefs, and one public nudity call.
Not funny
On July 15, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of suspicious plastic bags containing a white substance were found around Canora. The bags collected were tested and found not to contain any illicit drug. Police believe the bags of powder were left on the street as a prank and would like to speak to those responsible. Intoxicated
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on July 16 of an impaired driver on Highway 9 North of Canora. The suspect vehicle was located and a traffic stop was initiated by police. The driver of the vehicle was intoxicated and arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
Careless shooting
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of two males firing rifles on Highway 5 east of Canora on July 15. Police located the suspects and both were detained for firearm and Wildlife Act offences. Police continue to investigate.
Waking the neighbours
On July 15, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of loud music in Sturgis. Police received a second call advising the music was turned down and further follow up was not required.
False alarm
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a two-hit intrusion alarm on July 17 at a business in Canora. Police attended and found the building to be secure and determined the complaint was a false alarm.
Having a bad day?
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a disturbance in Canora on July 18. Police attended and located the subject of the complaint barricaded in a bedroom. Police spoke to the male and after a short period of time were able to convince the male to exit the room and co-operate with the investigation.
Wheelchair hitchhiker
On July 18, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a male in a wheelchair hitchhiking on Highway 9 north of Preeceville. Police attended and spoke with the male about the dangers of hitchhiking.
Fast litterbug
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report on July 18 that a female driving a white car in Canora had thrown beer cans out the window and sped off out of town at 150 kilometres per hour. Police made patrols but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.
Boundaries?
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of young females screaming obscenities in Canora on July 19. Police located the youth and had a followup discussion with their parents.
Property damage
On July 20, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of male damaging property at a residence in Canora. Police continue to investigate.
Breaking probation
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on July 21 to a disturbance in Canora. A male was arrested at a residence for failing to comply with conditions of his probation order. The male was remanded into custody and will appear in Yorkton Provincial Court.
Disturbance
On July 21, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of a disturbance in Canora. Police attended and arrested a male for failing to comply with conditions of his probation order. The male was remanded into custody for court in Yorkton Provincial Court.
Happy ending
The Canora RCMP received an assistance request on July 21 to locate a missing person at Good Spirit Provincial Park. The youth was located in the park and further police involvement was not required.
Breaking windows
The Canora/Sturgis were dispatched to a disturbance involving a female breaking the windows on a residence on July 21. Police attended and arrested the female for mischief and failing to comply with her probation conditions. The female was remanded into custody for court in Yorkton Provincial Court.
Knife incident
On July 23, the Canora RCMP were dispatched to a report of a male who was in possession of a knife and causing a disturbance at a residence in Canora. Police made patrols for the male, who had left the residence, but were unable to locate him. Police continue to investigate.
Public nudity
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on July 23 to a report of a male urinating in public. Police investigated and charged a male with public nudity.
Tough love
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received multiple calls from a male who requested police attend his residence on July 24 and bring him his oxygen tanks so he could continue to drink at a residence in Canora. Police did not pick up the oxygen tanks as requested but did ensure the male was not in any medical distress.
Broken curfew
On July 29, the Canora Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a male in breach of his curfew conditions on his probation order. Police located the male hitchhiking on Highway 9 south of Canora. The male was arrested and later released for court in Yorkton Provincial Court.
