CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 33 calls from Oct. 24 to Oct. 31, some of which included:
- one 911 Act call,
- one assault,
- one breach of peace,
- one bylaw,
- one Child Welfare Act call,
- one false alarm,
- one Fire Prevention Act call,
- one fraud,
- one harassing communications,
- two Mental Health Act calls,
- three mischiefs,
- one public nudity,
- one suspicious person,
- 10 traffic offenses,
- one uttering threats,
- three vehicle collisions,
- one wellbeing check, and
- one prisoner.
Popular cat
On Oct. 30, the Canora/Sturgis were dispatched to multiple calls for a disturbance in Canora. Police attended the scene and learned there was a dispute over money owed for a cat. Police mediated the dispute and the matter was resolved.
Persistent threats
The Canora/Sturgis were called on Oct. 30 to a residence in Canora for a disturbance. Police investigated and learned a man threatened another man and left prior to police arriving on scene. The man returned to the scene a short time later to continue his argument. The man was arrested for uttering threats and later released without charge.
Should have abstained
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP did a curfew check on a man in Canora on Oct. 28. The man was found to be breaching his curfew and the condition to abstain from the possession of cannabis plants. The man was charged with failing to comply with his probation order and was remanded into custody.
Moose causes rollover
On Oct. 28, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover in the RM of Preeceville. The male driver reported he swerved to miss a moose and rolled his truck into the ditch. The man was not injured in the collision.
