After a courageous battle with cancer, Joseph “Joe” Harry Barteski of Invermay, SK passed away on August 6, 2015 in Regina, SK at the age of 84. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Joe was born on September 10, 1930 in Invermay, SK to Walter and Nettie (Holowachuk) Barteski. The second eldest child, he grew up in a large, loving family with six sisters and two brothers. Joe married Olga

(Peirson) on October 14, 1952. In 1954, Joe and Olga moved to Edmonton where Joe worked in the construction industry until 1956 when they returned to Invermay to take over the family farm. In 1969, after a couple of lean years on the farm, the Barteski family moved to Saskatoon, where from 1969 to 1971 Joe once again worked in the construction industry. During this time Joe maintained the farm by taking time off in the spring and fall for seeding and harvest.

Joe retired from farming in 1994 and in 1998 Joe and Olga moved from the farm into the Town of Invermay. In addition to farming, Joe was an accomplished carpenter, taking on many projects over the years. Joe worked hard and ‘played’ hard, often partaking in various skits at family functions. He instilled the values of hard work, honesty, and integrity in his children from a young age. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Nettie, and his sister Pauline.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Olga; sons, Kenneth (Luba) and Rick (Val Lusk) and daughters, Janice (Donald Fogg) and Marsha (Todd Hoberg). He is also survived by his grandchildren: KallieAnn (Dan), Kameron (Jennifer), Keri (Darren), Travis (Teneil), Brandon (Rebecca), Keegan, and Hannah; eight great-grand-children: Pilot, Penn, Poet, Maysen, Elizabeth, Elias, Noah, and Oliver; siblings: Mary, Bernice, Frank, Edward, Ethel, Joyce, and Christine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
