600 balls fuel the start of Canora's golf season

CANORA - Canora’s golf season kicks off with a donation of 600 range balls to encourage and support youth golf in the area.

The donation comes from the Yorkton-based RE/MAX Blue Chip Realty. Owner Robert Kozak said he grew up playing in Canora and spent memorable summers on the golf course.

“My daughter is a golfer, so golf is kind of close to me in that sense,” Kozak said.

With Meaghan Hadubiak, a real estate agent at RE/MAX Blue Chip Realty, working in Canora, Kozak said the donation comes in an easy marriage with the clubhouse while doing business in the local community.

“We just really liked to be involved in our community, and Megan works here. We'd like to be involved in communities where we do business. Canora takes great pride in their golf course – a beautiful golf course,” he said. “So we just always wanted to be a part of it and help out.”

“It [the golf course] is getting busier and busier every year. And as it gets busier, we lose more balls. So having RE/MAX, Robert and Meaghan donating these balls for us has been a big help in keeping our range going,” said Donna Rock, clubhouse manager Canora Country Club.

Rock said the donated balls will ensure the staff have enough range balls to sell during the day to customers.

The first golf tournament this year is the Darryl Rock Memorial on June 29.

“Hopefully the weather smartens up and we can have a really good summer season,” concluded Rock.
