Canadian Western Agribition (CWA)鈥檚 Past President, John Willmott will be inducted into the Canadian Agriculture Hall of Fame this fall.

John Willmott has served Canadian agriculture for decades to bring about changes and advances for countless organizations. John was the CWA President in 1978 and 1979, a Board and Committee member for 29 years, and is currently still engaged with CWA as an active Past President. His big dreams helped CWA grow into the best beef show on the continent. John was also integral to establishing Canada鈥檚 Farm Progress Show as a premier event for crop and livestock innovations. He served as an international cattle judge, Angus breeder, and President, Director and/or a member of 19 agriculture-related organizations.

鈥淲e are grateful for all the work John has put into growing CWA and are pleased to see him being recognized for his contributions to the whole agriculture industry,鈥 says CWA President, Stewart Stone.

The Canadian Agriculture Hall of Fame also named crop protection pioneer James Bartlett and Angus beef promoter Robert Switzer as 2016 inductees.

Herb McLane, President of the Canadian Agriculture Hall of Fame Association noted, 鈥淭his year鈥檚 three inductees all channeled their passion, whether for horticulture, beef cattle or industry organizations, into advances and opportunities to make agriculture matter even more. They dreamed big, advocated tirelessly and have left indelible marks on the Canadian agricultural landscape.鈥

The induction ceremony will take place on November 6 at the Royal Agriculture Winter Fair in Toronto.
