SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - There are now five candidates in the field to be the next member of Parliament in Souris-Moose Mountain.

Lyndon Dayman of the Canadian Future Party joined the race on April 7. This is the first federal election for the centrist Canadian Future Party. It was formed last summer.

The other candidates in the field are Steven Bonk of the Conservative Party of Canada, Aziz Mian of the Liberal Party of Canada, Sheena Muirhead Koops of the New Democratic Party and Remi Rheault of the Green Party of Canada.

They are vying to replace Robert Kitchen of the Conservative Party, who announced last year he would not seek re-election.

The People's Party of Canada, which ran a candidate in Souris-Moose Mountain the last two elections, does not have a candidate for the riding on its website or on the Elections Canada site. The party had someone at the start of the campaign, but that person is no longer listed.

The deadline to file a nomination for the election was April 7 at 2 p.m. Sask time. Candidates then had three hours to withdraw. The final list of confirmed candidates is to be released on April 9.
